There is a tradition at The Fuselage known as Appreciation Day. Each week
day, a member of The Fuselage is chosen to be "appreciated" by the another
member of the board. On April 21, 2005, Starrox (BB #3) chose Burky to be
appreciated. Because he was chosen so late in the day on that Thursday, a
special exception was made and he was appreciated throughout the weekend
that followed as well. Below are the posts made by the members of The
Fuselage, both on the linear board and in the Burky's Babes thread, in
appreciation of Bryan Burk.

first thing I saw was "Happy Belated Appreciation Day Starrox."! *faints* Now I'm totally
unscrolled and, of course, have no idea who passed on the honor to me yet (and never
expected that to happen since I've never taken part in the Appreciation Day-thing, to tell
you the truth), but given the time I guess I should pass on the torch before I find all that
out, right? ;-)
Sooooo... I took a look at the list and since I had no idea who to choose, I decided to
dedicate this day to a person I was surprised to find out hasn't been appreciated yet -
the "perpetual insomniac in order to bring us endless entertainment from the mind of J.J.
Abrams"... Mr. Bryan Burk!
hijinx -- ATTENTION!!! Today is Burky's Appreciation Day at the 'Lage!! Starrox made
her selection late in the day, so its okay if you don't post something until Friday, but
PLEASE DO if you can. He'll kill me, as usual, for sending a flood of love his way, but as
nFound said, he's just so durn cute!! And deserving, of course. HAPPY

a bit, but I know we're not supposed to post just to bump up a thread so here's some
content for my post:

And, while I'm at it, I want to comment on the whole "having a hard time with recognition
and getting compliments" thing. I think we can all relate to feeling that way at some time.
I know how I can feel embarrassed when someone compliments me and think "I don't
really deserve it" but then, at the same time, feel pleased that someone recognized my
awesomeness but also afraid to take it in because what if it goes to my head and what if
I'm really not all that and a bag of chips. It's a vicious cycle. It's also a bunch of bull.
Each one of us is blessed with at least one skill or talent or personality trait that is truly
exceptional and deserves recognition and praise. So, Burky, enjoy your Appreciation
Day (now expanded to the whole weekend), take it all in, bask in the gratitude and love
we're sending your way, and tell any feelings of embarrassment or self-deprecation to
take a hike for the rest of the week. I know that's often easier said than done, but please
make an effort because you deserve every single nice thing that's being written about
you. And don't worry that all this adulation might go to your head -- hijinx and the rest of
the Burky's Babes will make sure you "keep it real" plus you know the rest of the LOST
Creative Team and your friends and family will always put you in your place if ever
necessary.

I appreciate Burky because he spent a lot of time and effort to try to get as many VIPs to
the Destination: L.A. party as possible and was the driving force behind the video
greetings from the cast members who couldn't be there. Burky, I hope you know just how
much that video meant to the attendees, especially those whose favorite actors weren't
able to attend.
The fact that Burky went out of his way to make a fan event as memorable for the
attendees as possible says a lot about who he is as a person. In fact, I think that Burky is
such a sweetie that I'm going to break my rule about never joining "fangirl" groups and
go sign up to be a Burky's Babe right now!
Enjoy your day, Burky, and try to take in all the compliments and just how much you're
appreciated here (well, just as long as you don't get a swelled head and become an
egotistical jerk but let's not go there, shall we).
Oh yeah, and he's also quite the hottie, but his mind is even sexier. *eg*

Carlos was our production designer (we just hired a new one --- although Carlos was
GREAT!) All the writing and Post-Production is done in Burbank, Production in Oahu.
Jean Higgins is our (line) producer out here, and Jack Bender is our directing producer.
The two of them oversee everything out here. We were sending the writers out to
produce their own episodes, although lately, they've been staying in L.A. since we need
them in the writer's room and since everything's been going smoothly (knock on wood)
on the island.
As we "speak," I am online with Burbank mixing the sound for next week's episode
(which is why I keep vanishing --- I have to watch scenes). We just finished editing the
episode that airs 2 weeks from tonight (#109), we're still editing #110, we're shooting
#112, and tonight I'm going to read the latest draft of #113.
We have AMAZING writer's assistants: Matt (Fury's assistant), Dawn (Carlton's
assistant) and Rachel (Damon's assistant) are all brilliant and are all writers. We literally
could not do this show without them.

Sorry, for vanishing... Talking to an editor.
Here are some answers to questions asked ages ago (if anyone is still interested):
1) Unfortunately, I have ZERO information about the DVD. These talks have just
started, so -- as usual -- things are subject to change. We still have to finish writing (let
alone, shooting) the second half of Season 1, so it'll be a while.
2) I am involved with the music & songs for the show. Which ties into:
3) Associate Producer/Executive Producer... On ALIAS, I am an Associate Producer (this
upcoming season, a Co-Producer). Most of my work on that show revolves around
helping in the editing room and mixing the show (score, songs, etc...). On LOST, I am an
executive producer, where I have many more responsibilites -- as well as being the only
non-writing executive producer on the show.
4) Favorite color: Green.
5) Some of the cast are going back to the mainland for the weekend: Foxy, Malcolm.
Daniel (I think), and Ian possibly... Some are exploring other islands (Dom, I believe). But
most are still hanging around and having friends flying in.
I'm about to go read before dinner tonight. Any last questions??

Thank all of YOU for posting, supporting and, most of all, watching! Yes, we feel very
blessed to have found Evi. It was a weird moment when she auditioned. We knew
instantly that she was something special. I'm actually heading out to dinner right now,
where I will see her and remind her to come on and chat... With regards to the structure
of episodes: The writers have plenty of surprises in store for us. And as for Claire's
character: Tune in a week from tonight for one of my favorite episodes so far..

Bryan...where do I start? I told you that to even start to think about everything you have
done -- for this fandom, for the Alias fandom, for Bad Robot, for the Babes, for me...it
gets me all choked up and I have to step back. I'm going to try to live up to the
"eloquent" added to my name today by Splodey, but I will probably lean more towards
the sappy. I apologize, because I know it can tend to get embarrassing and I know that
you will be as self-depreciating as always and not feel you deserve a single word of this.
You don't have to do what you do here at the Fuselage. You didn't have to bend over
backwards to get the actors to post (you even outdid Uncle Fury with that!), come on
here and chat while you are slaving away in the editing room working on LOST or ALIAS
(or both), go to Hawaii to arrange for that special video message from the actors who
couldn't make it to DLA, go to EXTREME lengths to get the handful of wonderfully
beautiful actors who you could kidnap from the set to come, get Allyson a bevy of
auction items, etc., etc. You don't have to do any of that stuff -- but you DO, because
you want to...because you care about us and the fans of LOST. And because you are
one of the most kind-hearted men I have ever had the pleasure to get to know.
I could write a book describing all the wonderful things you have done that make you
deserve this Appreciation Day -- but hey, I dedicated an entire website for that exact
purpose. But it's the things that I don't put on that website, things that you do behind-the-
scenes, on the sly, without the knowledge of most people here, stuff that I find out about
through everyone BUT you, stuff that people share with me, because they know that I
care about you -- those are the things that I appreciate you for the most.
I could tell stories that everyone here would love to hear...stories that could quite
possibly make them love you even more, but I shall refrain. You and your fan club got
quite a bit of attention at DLA, more so than I ever imagined we would. And as
embarrassing as most of that had to be for you, I can't tell you how amazing it was for me
to have VIPs know who I am, because of the site I made for you (and then ask me for a
Babes t-shirt). So many of them said so many nice things to me about you, and thanked
me for giving you the appreciation that they feel you deserve.
I'll close with an example: I asked Thom Sherman (President of Bad Robot) for an
autograph at the party. He wrote: "Amy, Thank you for your support...of Burky! -Thom
Sherman"
I consider that to be one of the greatest compliments that I have ever received. It has
been, and will continue to be, my honor to appreciate you every day by maintaining your
"official fansite" (thanks for that, too, by the way), leading the Babes fan club and finding
new and better ways to let you know just how much we love and appreciate you.
A little too verbose? Probably, but come on...it's Burky. You guys should expect nothing
less from me ;) *Burky SMOOCHES* to each and every one of you for your kind words
and really thoughtful posts to the King of the Babes. He will say he doesn't deserve it,
but we know better.

I wanted to know if anybody here has a problem with allowing Burky's appreciation day to
continue through today (and thus, through the weekend). Normally, I would not make
such a HUGE request, but I have a few reasons:
1. Starrox did not name him until LATE yesterday (almost 5 p.m. Central Time), so he
really hasn't had a full day yet technically.
2. After D:LA and after all of the work he has done to get VIPs, including ACTORS, to
come post with us, I think the man deserves it. Allowing his day to continue through
today would also include the weekend -- I can't think of anyone else (except maybe JJ)
who deserves that much appreciation.
3. I want Burky to be able to pick the next Appreciatee, if possible, and I want him to
have a chance to come in and respond. I sent him a message late last night that today
was his Appreciation Day, but I did not hear back from him and he did not come on --
from my experience, this is uncharacteristic of the man. Thus, I am assuming he either is
still not aware of the Appreciation, or he is just so frickin' swamped that he hasn't been
able to come on yet.
IF this simple request becomes some sort of MAJOR dispute, then I will withdraw the
request and pick the next Appreciatee on Burky's behalf. I hope you guys won't make
that necessary -- the man deserves this, IMHO.
